Growth

The week after, we had to move into a class room because the home was to small.
We had meetings regularly and people of other denominations joined  in till they had their own.
I was ministering to people who just had needs and counseling domestic problems.
One such situation, I was asked to go to Mannenberg, this brother told me about his sister.
They had gone to hospital, she could not eat, she had cramps and pain in her stomach but,
They could not identify what it was or how to treat it. A Muslim person approached  them and
Told them he would take them to a Muslim cleric, they responded to this and said my brother is a believer we will ask him.this is how we went to Mannenberg. I said to them, because you turned to God he will heal you.
We laid hands on her stomach prayed and she said, when you prayed, i felt a twitch in my stomach.
We arranged a cottage meeting for the next meeting. When we arrived the husband said, she's healed and
We want to accept the Lord as our savior.

As we continued, our meetings started at eight till ten then we went door-knocking till twelve.
We had cottage-meetings regularly and the church grew. Again we had quite a few people of other
Denominations till theirs started. While continuing with fellowship one of the brethren said to me,
You are not going to lead the fellowship, he looks like you but its not you. While having meetings,
This brother that he referred to came to minister to us in our home, then this brother said, that's him
He will be leading the ministry.
We continued with meetings, having meetings from 8.00 to10.00, then went door-knocking and arranged
Cottage meetings till 12.00.

This then was our way of conducting our meetings, Sundays, 8.00 till 10.00, door-knocking, 10.00 till 12.00
Thursdays cottage-meetings, Tuesdays prayer meetings.

The Journey

At these prayer meetings we listened to teaching tapes, the likes of Ern Baxter, Bob Mumford,
Derek Prince and many more. It was at one of these meetings, that we received a prophecy
That we would minister nationally and internationally. That word was for my colleague and i
Who are walking together these past forty years. When i heard that word, i was skeptical,
How was this possible, young men of the townships but God was too wise to make a mistake.
When my colleague first went to America, i had to repent.

At one of these meetings, I spoke to the brethren that we are going to pray for Hanover Park.
That week we went door knocking and eleven souls got saved.
In that year of 1974 Mitchels' Plain opened  up and we had to move.
In 1975 we moved to Mitchels' Plain. At that time there were no churches.
One morning, I was standing outside and looking around, when i saw a brother, singing and playing
Guitar, the thought came to me, that we should go into the open with our whole band
Get hold of a flat-bed truck lode our instruments on it and go to different parts of the township
Having open-air meetings.We had prayer meetings at the time when we were approached by a
Lady to have a cottage-meeting at a friends home.
This was the home of our first convert and their neighbour that accepted Jesus as Lord.

the change

within that time of turmoil, my wife accepted  Jesus as her personal savior.
I looked at the situation and thought about what i was going to do
This was all new to me, i thought about going back to the corner or am
I going to walk with my wife. Four days later, i accepted Jesus as my savior
I did not know what that meant, but that was the start of an amazing life.

I was now working for Chrysler 4 years, due to the continuous  short times,
at work i found it a problem to budget. One week i would earn 25.00 rand
The next time i would earn 35.00 rand. I decided to trust the Lord and resigned.
I went job hunting and started again for 25.00 rand.

At the Baptist church where we fellow-shipped, i was offered a job
as a store-man  in a furniture factory. while working about a year, i was given
The opportunity  to bye a full set of woodwork tools and helped fit doors and
handles on office desks. I then started making my own kitchen  units and wardrobes.
We attended bible-school part-time for 7 years. He left for Durban and built up a
ministry there.  I continued with cottage meetings until we moved out of Kensington...

I first moved to a farm in Foure  then to Ocean View where we lived for eight months.
While living there, i received my home from the municipality. we packed up and moved to
Hanover Park. While living there, we started a prayer meeting that continued every Saturday night.

Not being able to do my high school education, caused me to stand back

in most opportunities that came my way.

As I grew up and started working at the age of 12 years old, with a

traveling salesman.

I found that I was quick to grasp working skills.

Working at different companies I grabbed every opportunity to

learn more.
At a motor spare-parts company, a friend who frequently bought parts,
showed me how to weld.
After practicing as much as possible, I left the company and found a
job at another company, to sharpen my skills in welding.
I started at a company, building trailers and truck bodies.
It wasn't long, when the person building the bodies died and I was
chosen to build those refuse truck bodies, then the welders would
come afterwards and weld.
At one company I worked making tin-cans, I walked away from
my station, operating a machine, and learned to do gas-welding.
I then worked at Chrysler, doing much gas-welding, by this time
I was heavy into smoking pot, by then I was married first year,
it was eight months down the line, we discovered that we could
not have children of our own. This had such an affect on us, that
we decided to divorce, but she having grown up in a home that
believed in conversion. She always told me I must be saved.
at that time I said, I go to church, sing in the choir, what more do I need.

As a young man, I discovered I had a passion for reading.
I also discovered I loved to do things with my hands.
It was at one of these situations drawing comic characters
on leather jackets that my brothers friend noticed my talents
and arranged a work situation to study sign writing for 4 years.
I did not go and so to my sorrow, I lost out.
